Shark Attack

Our children have very different personalities. While Kate is cautious and shy, Conor is fearless and wild. Kate also shares her Dad's organizational skills. She has none. While Conor is more like his Mama...a bit Type A.

For the past few years, I have been nagging young Kate to pick up her clothes and put them in the dirty laundry basket, don't leave wet towels on the bed, and (most recently) to return her toys to the toy box when she is done with them. Some days are better than others.

She has shrugged off the loss of a few favored stuffed animals, and a book or two. But, a few days ago, she came home and found her beloved Barbie victim of a shark attack.
The victim. The Shark.

Kate has been extra careful to pick up her toys since "the accident".

Indeed, a delightful lesson in motivation (for Mom).

PS. After I posted this, I laughed to myself about how truly different the kids are. Had this been one of Conor's balls that got chewed, he might have tossed the dog another. An act that motivates one would probably encourage the other. Funny.
